Maybelline Lip Flush Bitten Lip #RD01 Raspberry Red

by - 12/01/2016 06:58:00 PM

This Lip Flush has been a hype since this year's summer, following a gradation lip trend from Korea. Many Japanese Youtubers are reviewing this lipstick, that has 3 gradient colors. But I only got to know that it's been sold here this November (^ ^!). With this lipstick, there is no need to use 2-3 different lipstick products for gradation. Let's see if the Maybelline Lip Flush Bitten Lip will surpass the famous Laneige Two Tone Lip Bar. I have reviewed the Laneige one, Pink Salmon and Juicy Pop.

This picture is taken from Maybelline Japan:

There are 5 shades in Japan. RD01 Raspberry Red, RD02 Cranberry Red, RD03 Deep Cherry, PK01 Strawberry Punch, and PK02 Peach Pink. But nationwide, there are 6 shades. It is said the bold color is for complexion, the middle color is for blending, and the lowest is for concealer.

The lightest color is for concealer, the next layer is thin pink, and darker red.

In Indonesia, only 4 shades. Yeah we got the most common shade of all and the website doesn't include the shade's name. Poor us. I wanted to try PK02, though, and it doesn't get sold here. Sigh.... I know most of this country's people will pick bold color lipstick due to Western makeup trend, but some minorities (me) likes soft color too.

Videos from Japan:

Now, let's see mine.

Red cap like usual Maybelline lipstick. But this time, with silver metallic gradation.

The cap reflected my hand and phone 😑😑😑

Even just by opening the cap, the cherry scent can be smelled. Quite strong but easily disappeared.

Swatch on hand. Above : blended. Below : unblended. The lowest color is similar to a transparent lipbalm. But I noticed it conceals dark area on lips.

On lips. The cherry scented disappeared after a second. It doesn't leave any taste.

Texture is similar to a lipbalm. But the remaining color can stay quite long compared to normal lipbalm. Although it can be erased faster by wiping with tissue. The color is not exactly red. It becomes a blue-toned pink gradation, especially if it is blended.

Overall, I love the lipstick. It doesn't turn too bold, glossy finish, easy & pretty gradation effect, have sweet scent that doesn't last long, slightly cherry tasted, and not pricey like Laneige. So far, the RD01 color is not a red color. It is a blue undertone pink, which looks bright sometimes, but not too strong for my preference. Reality wise, I'd like to try PK02 also, although it's not getting sold here. But considering all the colors look almost the same to me, I guess it is not a problem. If you want to try more different color, I suggest you to try RD03, a deeper shade of red that is almost similar to plum.

PS: This becomes my everyday lipstick now, if I don't have specified theme color for a day.

MY THOUGHTS FOR MAYBELLINE LIP FLUSH BITTEN LIP #RD01:
+ An easy lipstick to create gradation.
+ Very moisturizing because the texture is similar to a lipbalm.
+ Doesn't leave significant taste. Only a little bit cherry scented that will disappear in a few minutes.
+ The scent is strong but quickly disappears.
+ Cheaper version of many gradation lipsticks.
+ Easy to find because it came from a well-known brand and sold at drugstores.
+ Staying power is pretty decent, although it is quite long.
- Transfer to everything.
- Because the bullet is round, I'm not used to pick between the bolder and transparent color. Laneige's bullet is easier to use because the bolder color is easy to be determined with its tip.
