BEYOND Alice in Glow Cushion #01 Milk Cake with SPF50+ / PA+++ & Lip and Cheek #04 Apricot Jelly

by - 2/07/2016 12:21:00 PM

BEYOND again! I couldn't find the Alice in Glow series at the counter here, so I bought it online. I meant to buy only the Lip and Cheek, but finally my urge was changed to buy it together with the cushion. Because... Simply it's a limited edition and I like the picture. Uh, I'm not a fan of Disney or any cute character either from Sanrio or anything. But if it pick my interest, I will be glad to own a unique thing. I bought the Alice in Glow Cushion #01 Milk Cake (lightest shade) and Lip & Cheek #04 Apricot Jelly. Anyway, I was scared if the cushion would be too white because I couldn't find many swatches about this thing. BEYOND is not popular enough like Etude House or Innisfree, so I find it hard to read any reviews about its new product. But in the end, I came to like it so much.

01. BEYOND Alice in Glow Cushion #01 Milk Cake

How many cushion I have bought? Not counting the refill, I have 8 cushions now from different brand (Laneige Pore Control, Innisfree Ampoule Intense, DASODA FC Aqua, Missha M Magic, Mamonde Cover Powder, and the next is Etude House Moist Any Cushion). Etude House Precious Mineral Moist Any Cushion will be my upcoming cushion to be reviewed, but I only bought the refill because it's only for review purposes, not my personal intention. Really, I bought it because Japanese seem to like this cushion better than Maybelline so I need to try. Gosh, that's too many of it, considering I also have many BB creams in tube.

Alice in Glow cushion have cute packaging with Alice, White Rabbit, Mad Hatter, and the March Hare's drawing on its box. But leave it aside. The box is normal in white color and Alice in Wonderland text embossed. If you wonder why I know Mad Hatter and March Hare's name, please read my "Are You Alice" review for PSP. Yes. I don't care about Alice's cartoon on Disney or what. I got to know it from that series. Just blame me for not having any favorite cute character.

Next, the cushion case. The Alice's logo on its case is the same as the front box. Alice in tea party theme, right? Don't forget the colorful printed flowers. I think those flowers really gives off the fantasy vibe.

Let's continue to the inside. I'm very curious about this cushion's puff. It has the biggest hanger for finger I have ever seen. The puff doesn't give me cooling sensation (air puff?), but still very soft compared to Innisfree. Yep, I think Innisfree and Missha's puff are the hardest I have. For the hanger to place finger, it just let my two fingers goes inside, but still sturdy enough to pon-pon (Sorry, I think this kind of cutesy name is because I always watch Japanese tutorials on Youtube. Should be pat-pat).

I don't find it is a hard job to take the cream by placing its puff on it. The cream comes in decent amount when pressed, not too much.

With little press and thin layer of cream, it can cover my acne marks and dark spots, etc. The Alice in Glow Cushion gives dewy finish but after a few minutes, it goes without sticky feeling when being touched. I always use it without primer and I don't think it is changing by hours. It doesn't settle into my pores nor lines on my face, stick perfectly onto my skin. Most of the most, the cream doesn't melt like Mamonde Cover Powder Cushion around my nose and chin! That's what I love about this cushion. Also, don't forget about its staying power. I think it stays enough in air conditioned room for a day. But I don't know if I wear it outside. Remember, my skin is very dry. So I can't compare with oily skin. The cream is not overly-scented. If my nose doesn't stay around it, I can't smell anything, gladly.

It is true that this BB cream gives me an even skin color and more white. But for me, it is not as white as Innisfree. The Milk Cake is slightly a bit darker than my hands, so this is great for NW20-25. As you can see, there is a red acne mark on my left cheek. It disappeared after using the BEYOND Alice in Glow Cushion. Forgive my ugly appearance in the morning before using this cushion. I couldn't smile.

02. BEYOND Alice in Glow Lip and Cheek #04 Apricot Jelly

Lip and Cheek is supposed to be used on cheek and lips as its name suggested. But product like this tends to settles into my lip lines and unappropriate as a lip color. Well, let's see if I like this item.
Color variation for this Lip and Cheek:

Mine is #04, the apricot jelly. Size is smaller than the cushion (obviously).

On the box, there is a sticker to determine the number and color.

Of course with the royal black tea essence, the same with this Alice series.

Too many picture of the box. Haha~

The cap is not a magnet type. I must use my nail to open it.

Apricot jelly is a coral-pink color. It is not as dark as on pan, but buildable when blending it either on lips nor cheeks.

Seems pretty, right?

But I dislike it when I applied it on lips. A few minutes after applying, it will be like my Etude House Sweet Recipe Cupcake All Over Color, settles into my lip lines. It is oily type. Unlike Canmake Cream Cheek, this kind of lip and cheek product won't be suited as a lip color. I think Canmake Cream Cheek is the best lip & cheek item I owned (though I will try the famous Kose Visee Lip & Cheek Cream later). Same as the cushion, it has scent but only when my nose is close to the pan. The scent is unnoticed once applied.

On lips. It looks fine because I took this picture right after applying it. If I wait for 5 minutes, it would be chalky. And this apricot jelly shade makes my lips pale. But I still like the color, though I might not use it on lips too often. Maybe should have put lipbalm first.

See? My friend told me I look pale with this lip color. It will be messy after a few minutes and I must touch up many times because of it. It can easily be removed like a lipbalm. But on cheeks, it looks very pretty and very natural. I like this kind of natural flush. The picture below depicts the cushion and lip & cheek cream (used on both cheeks and lips).

If you wondering where did I bought those hairclips... I bought it at Osewaya Aeon Mall Store together with some new earrings.

My thoughts for BEYOND Alice in Glow Cushion #01 Milk Cake:
+ Not overpriced. It is below Laneige and above Etude House. A decent price.
+ Usually, I hate dewy finish. But this cushion doesn't feel sticky when I touch my face after 30mins applying.
+ Doesn't settle into my face lines and doesn't give cracky result after so many hours.
+ Milk Cake is not as white as Innisfree shade 21.
+ Coverage is low to medium, but it is pretty good for a dewy finish cushion.
+ The puff is softer than Innisfree! Wow.
+ Long staying power on my dry skin.
- Hard to get, especially if I only need the refill because it's a limited edition series! BEYOND have yet to sell the exact series as their permanent product.
- Dewy finish can means short staying power for oily skin.

Look! My hand is still whiter than my face. Of course I always use base makeup on my neck to avoid different color. Using both the cushion and lip & cheek (only on cheek here). Okay, that panda eyes in all pictures!

My thoughts for BEYOND Alice in Glow Lip and Cheek #04 Apricot Jelly:
+ Beautiful coral-pink shade, perfect for natural daily flush.
+ Easy to apply and blend.
+ Easy to be removed from my finger after applying because it is not a tint.
+ The color can be built up.
+ A decent amount of product on its pan.
+ Cute packaging and drawing.
- Not pretty on lips as you can see. It is dry and settles into my lip lines.
- Apricot Jelly shade is too pale as a lip product.
- Unhygienic to use fingers.
Of course Canmake Cream Cheek is the best lip and cheek product for me at the moment!

Anyway, I wish you a happy Chinese New Year 2016. I hope we can get more prosperity and good luck.
